PRELIMINARY SELECTION

 

Preliminary Selection 20.08-29.08.2010

The Preliminary Selection for the 58th edition of the International Piano Competition Ferruccio Busoni will take place in Bolzano, at the Conservatory „Claudio Monteverdi,“ from 20 to 29 August 2010. All preselection tests are open to the public.


Music Programm - Preselection

Candidates are performing a FIRST PROGRAMME of a maximum of 30 minutes, including:

one étude by Chopin (op.10 or op.25)
one étude by Liszt (*)
one étude by Debussy, Bartok (op. 18), Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Stravinskij, Skrjabin or Ligeti
one sonata by Mozart or Beethoven
or
one or more compositions by Schumann or Brahms.

(*) Allowed are the études d’exécution transcendante, the Paganini études and the Concert études (including Ab Irato).

Based on the preliminary selection, the international jury will choose up to 24 candidates who will enter the final phase of the competition in August/September 2011.


Cooperation with Golden Bell Competition

In order to raise the Competition’s international profile, the Foundation International Piano Competition Ferruccio Busoni has signed an agreement with the most important national competition in China, the Golden Bell Competition, in November 2009, offering their top three placed contestants a chance to participate in the 58th edition of the Busoni Competition, including travel expenses to Bolzano.

The following young pianists will, therefore, be participating in the Competition in Bolzano this August:
